|
Speciation from the Green Turaco super-species is predicated on vocal and chromosomal differences. The Knysna Turaco measures 45-47cm from beak to tail, and weighs 262-380 grams. Species diagnosis is possible by the rounded white tipped crest. Within its range, the Knysna Turaco inhabits forests from sea level to 1800m, feeding mainly on available fruits. CITES II: Not globally threatened, but future population projections indicate the nominate will be affected by coastal deforestation. Return to Species Page |
